Self-Love Tarot Spell
I heard a saying once, “we accept the love we think we deserve.” This was in reference to relationships, which mostly referred to romantic love, but it made a lot of sense eithe way. Often people who are consistently mistreated and disregarded struggle with self-love and/or valuing themselves. These people are often kind, generous, empathetic, and accepting individuals. Sometimes too accepting. In which case, they may attract people who are the exact opposite in nature. The psychology of how and why this happens is complex, and I do not wish to over simplify the issue. Only to say, I have been there, and I understand that it can be a challenging cycle to break. Sometimes, we may just be feeling down, or have somehow managed to put ourselves on the back burner. Sometimes we just need to remind ourselves that our wellbeing matters. Of course, having a good support system is so important. Equally important is taking steps toward personal empowerment.
There are many ways to do this (everyone is different). Sometimes it’s just a matter of getting started. I’ve found that just a simple self-love spell can be helpful psychologically and energetically. It’s an amazing way to shift your mindset and tap into your personal power. When we are able to love and nurture ourselves, it trickles over into the rest of our lives. Not just romantically, but on every level. Little by little we begin to feel deserving of all things. If you are feeling stuck, this spell is can help jump start the process.

Self-Love Tarot Spell
Choose a time and place where you and your magical items will not be disturbed. I tend to perform most magical work at night, before bedtime. Do what feels right for you. I like to create a sacred space by smudging the area with sage, incense or aroma therapy spray. Again, do what feels right for you. Feel free to add additional elements to enhance the ritual on a personal level. Note: This spell can be done when the moon is waxing or waning.
Begin by gathering everything you’ll need for this spell and preparing your magical space. If you are using an altar cloth, lay it out now. Arrange items on your altar (magical space).
On the piece of paper write the words “I release,” followed by things that may hinder you on a personal level. Remember this is spell is for self-love and personal development. Example: “I release old patterns, mental blocks, insecurities, pain and fear.”
Next, write down the words “I embrace,” followed by the things you wish to embrace and manifest in your life. Example: “I embrace love, prosperity, healthy friendships, romance, creativity, and happiness.”
Next, write down the words “I am,” followed by the positive things you are and wish to be. Example: “I am beautiful, lovable, funny, smart, creative, and confident.
Fold the piece of paper three times and set aside.
Sit quietly and think about what you are hoping to manifest in your life. What is for your greatest good?
After you have done this, hold the candle in both of your hands. Close your eyes and remember this is your
personal tool for manifesting your desire, so put all your energy into it.
Start to visualize that which you wish to manifest. Visualize it happening as intensely as possible. Generate as
much emotion as you possibly can. Feel the immense joy welling up inside of you. Experience it not only with
your mind, but with all your senses. Make it as real as if it were happening this very moment.
Place the folded piece of paper under your candle and then light the candle wick. If you are using a tall jar candle, place the tarot card or image upright against the candle. Otherwise, place it face up on the table in front of the candle.
Sit a moment, meditating on the tarot image in front of you. Do for several minutes. The Ace of Cup represents the element of water in its purest form. It offers the gift of love, intuition and healing.
You can either let your candle burn out completely on its own, or snuff it out after an hour or so. Then relight daily until the candle has burned out entirely. This is up to you. I typically let my candles burn out on their own in a safe place…away from children and pets. Note: If you choose to relight your candle daily, you do not have to repeat the process of visualization. It is has already been done. But feel free to meditate on the Ace of Cups as often as you wish.
